Suspect vehicle found, no arrests made in Somerville pedestrian hit-and-run crash, police say
Massachusetts State Police troopers are searching for a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in Somerville.The crash happened Monday night on Mystic Avenue, also known as Route 38 south, near the intersection of Shore Drive.The pedestrian, a 33-year-old Somerville man, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries, according to state police. An investigation by troopers from the State Police-Medford Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section developed information suggesting that the suspect vehicle was a hatchback, generally orange in color.The vehicle was found with assistance from Somerville police. The investigation is ongoing to identify the operator. There have been at least three hit-and-run crashes in the area in the past two years. In July 2019, 52-year-old Cheryl Richards was killed while crossing the road.A few weeks later in August, a 69-year-old pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when he was crossing the road.That incident happened in the same intersection as Monday night's crash.
